Dental Veneers—An Investment in You
Dental veneers are slim shells of porcelain that fit neatly over the fronts of teeth. Each veneer is custom-designed to create a natural finish that masks dental flaws. Veneers are strong and they create a beautiful outward appearance, but they are very thin, so they cannot bear strong biting forces. This makes them perfect, however, for enhancing the look of upper front teeth.
Veneers are cosmetic dental restorations and not considered medically necessary for treating teeth. As such, the decision to get one or more veneers to enhance the appearance of your smile represents a valuable investment in your self-confidence. We create custom porcelain dental veneers at our Mississauga dental practice.

Simple Yet Stunning Dental Veneers: The Process
Veneers can truly transform your look from the moment we put them on. Here is how your treatment journey will look when you visit Tomken Dental in Mississauga for your cosmetic veneers.
Smile Makeover Consultation
The very first thing we need to do is examine your teeth to make sure they are ready for veneers. If your teeth are cracked, decayed, severely worn, or affected by gum disease, then we may recommend an alternative treatment. This is because veneers are strictly cosmetic restorations and cannot repair teeth that need structural support. But we can help you get the treatment your teeth need to be strong and healthy before placing veneers. We’ll create your custom treatment plan during your initial consultation and review it with you before moving forward.
Preparing Your Teeth
At your dental veneers appointment, we will remove an extremely thin layer of enamel from the front of each tooth that is getting a veneer. This creates room for the veneer so that it lays evenly in line with the rest of your tooth. The preparation stage is not painful, but we will numb the treatment area in advance, just to prevent sensitivity. After preparing your teeth, we will take an impression of your teeth. Next, we will place temporary veneers on your teeth to protect them while you wait for your permanent ones to be finished.
Dental Veneer Placement
We will design your temporary veneers in advance to be prototypes of your permanent veneers. This allows you to “test drive” your veneers and see what you think of them. When your final veneers are ready, we will call you back into the office to try them on and then we’ll bond them in place. Just like that, your new smile will be complete!

The Cost of Dental Veneers in Mississauga
With insurance, a single dental veneer could cost you $200 to $600. If you don’t have insurance, then you may pay the full price of a veneer, which can cost $800 to $1,200. Veneers are often seen as expensive because getting veneers placed on your teeth is an optional cosmetic treatment. But just remember that a well-designed veneer or two can change your smile in ways that you can’t put a price tag on!
Your individual dental veneer treatment cost will be determined by:
- Whether you need other treatments to prepare your teeth for veneers or to complete your smile makeover
- The number of veneers you choose to get
- The type of veneers you get
We can provide you with an accurate estimate of the cost of your treatment after we have the chance to examine your teeth during your first in-person consultation at our practice. During your first visit, we’ll go over these factors, explain your treatment options, and help you calculate the cost.
Frequently Asked Questions
Porcelain veneers are the classic type of veneers that are made of pure porcelain. They have a finish that is practically identical to natural tooth enamel, and they are very strong. Veneers can be made from composite dental material, but porcelain gives the most natural-looking results.
Ultimately, the number of veneers you get is entirely up to you. If you only need to fix one problem tooth, then one is enough. If you want to create a more uniform look, then you might choose to get four or even six veneers across the fronts of your upper front teeth. You may mix-and-match treatments to get the best value. For example, you can bleach all of your teeth with a professional whitening treatment, put crowns on unsightly back teeth, and then only put veneers on the teeth that don’t respond to the bleach. There are a lot of different ways to go about this, and we can help you plan the perfect smile makeover.
Dental veneers are permanently bonded to your teeth, but they can pop off if you don’t take care of them. With adequate care, your veneers could last as long as ten years, or possibly even longer.
Brush and floss the teeth with veneers just like you clean your other teeth. Use a nonabrasive toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush to avoid scratching the porcelain material as this could dull your veneers. Stay away from foods that promote enamel erosion and tooth decay like sweet drinks and acidic foods. You should never use your teeth as tools to bite open packages or tear off tags, but you’ll have to be extra protective of your teeth after getting veneers. Biting into hard items can damage your veneers. Visit us for regular dental checkups so that we can check on your veneers and make sure they’re staying healthy.
