All About Same-Day Veneers
Porcelain veneers are conservative yet durable cosmetic dental restorations that we can place to help you improve the appearance of your smile. Veneers are thin porcelain shells that are about as thick as your fingernail. These shells are placed over the front of teeth that show when you smile and they can help cover up stubborn stains and rough enamel, fill in chipped areas, and close up gaps. A very small amount of tooth enamel must be shaved away from the front of the tooth to make room for a veneer, but this process is quick and painless. Getting a veneer is actually less invasive than having a typical dental filling placed.
The Advantages of Same-Day Veneers
Traditional porcelain veneers require multiple appointments. It can take weeks or even months to complete your cosmetic dental treatment if you get regular veneers. Separate appointments are needed to design your veneers, prepare your teeth, and then place your veneers.
At our Mississauga dental practice, however, we offer same-day veneer treatment because we have the tools and technology that allow us to design and place your veneers all in one visit.
Here are the benefits of same-day veneers:
- No messy dental impressions. We use a 3D scanning device to measure your teeth and design your veneers.
- Fast treatment so that you can start enjoying your new smile right away.
- Less drilling. Same-day veneers are even thinner and more conservative than traditional veneers, so we can save more of your natural tooth enamel.
Same-Day Veneers: The Treatment Process
Create your customized treatment plan
Your input is the most important part of the veneer treatment planning process. We want to help you achieve a smile you can be proud of, so we will take the time to talk with you at length about what you hope to achieve with dental veneers. The dentist will take your input into consideration when designing your veneers. At this point, we will let you know what your alternative treatment options are and answer any questions you may have about veneers. We may also recommend that you have some essential dental treatment done first to ensure that your gums and teeth are healthy before we place your cosmetic veneers.
Prepare your teeth
We will begin your treatment by administering an anesthetic injection and then carefully removing a thin layer of enamel from the front of your tooth. Next, we will scan your prepared teeth and then send the scans to the milling machine, which produces custom-fitted veneers. This part is not uncomfortable and will be over very quickly as we won’t be drilling deep into your tooth. If you are receiving more than one veneer, we will prepare all the teeth this way.
Place your veneers
Your new veneers will be milled right here in our on-site dental restoration milling machine. This machine produces extremely precise restorations based upon the 3D scan we take of your teeth, and your new veneers will fit like a glove. After checking that the fit is perfect and that you love the look and feel of your veneers, we will bond them to your teeth.
We can complete your dental veneer treatment from start to finish all in one appointment, provided you are only getting a few veneers. We may need to have you come back in for a separate visit if you are getting veneers on many of your teeth as it does take time to craft one restoration at a time in the milling machine.
The Cost of Same-Day Veneers in Mississauga
The cost of dental veneers is variable. If you have insurance, you may pay anywhere from $200 to $600 for a single veneer. Without insurance, that range goes up to $800 to $1,200.
Factors that affect the cost of treatment with veneers:
- The number of veneers you need
- The complexity of your treatment
- An additional treatment you may need to prepare your mouth for getting veneers
- The goals you hope to achieve by getting veneers
- The supplies and equipment you need for your unique treatment
With so many factors that influence the price, we can’t give you a close estimate over the phone or on our website. The best way to get a personalized quote for your same-day dental veneers is to visit one of our dentists for a comprehensive dental examination. Once we have all the information we need about your dental health needs and cosmetic smile goals, we can provide you with a detailed treatment plan and an estimate of your treatment costs. You can then submit the estimate to your dental insurance company to determine what your out-of-pocket costs may be.

Frequently Asked Questions
A porcelain veneer is a false front for your tooth. It’s a very slim shell-like restoration that covers the front of a tooth to give it an improved appearance when you smile. Veneers can make teeth look straighter, more even, and brighter.
The total number of veneers you get is ultimately your decision. You may only need one veneer to improve a single flawed tooth, or you may need to get multiple veneers across neighbouring teeth to achieve a uniform appearance. There are other treatment alternatives to veneers which can get you similar results, so you may decide to mix and match your cosmetic treatments after discussing your options with your dentist.
Veneers are permanently bonded to your teeth, but they are prone to damage, so you need to take good care of them. Carefully brush and floss around your veneers to prevent cavities from developing underneath them and avoid biting down on hard foods with teeth that have veneers on them. If you look after them well, veneers can last you ten years or even longer.
Taking care of dental veneers is just as easy as caring for your natural teeth. Brush your teeth twice daily using a soft toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste. Floss around all of your teeth at least once per day. If recommended by your dentist, rinse your mouth with an antiseptic mouthwash or fluoride rinse to keep your teeth and gums healthy between brushings. Minimize tooth decay and enamel erosion by avoiding foods that are high in acids or simple carbohydrates. Schedule a dental checkup every six months so that our team can check your dental veneers to make sure they’re still in great shape.
